Privacy Policy
"thought of you" ("the app", "we", "our") is a simple way to send someone a private haptic "tap" on their Apple Watch to let them know you're thinking of them. This policy explains exactly what information the app collects, how it's used, and what it is not used for.
Information we collect
The app creates a private identity for you automatically the first time you open it. That identity consists of:
- A 9-digit pairing code and account identifier. Randomly generated — not derived from your name, email, or any other personal information.
- A device push notification token, so we can notify you when someone thinks of you while the app isn't open. Each device (iPhone and Apple Watch) registers its own token.
- The connections you make. When you and someone else both confirm a pairing, we store that the two accounts are connected.
- Any nickname you choose to give a connection (for example, naming a connection "Mom"). This is free text you type yourself — we never generate or infer it.
- Your mute/pause state, if you've temporarily turned off notifications.
We never see or store your password in a readable form — only a one-way cryptographic hash of it, used solely to verify it's really you on future requests.
Information we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, precise location, contacts, photos, health data, payment information, or browsing history. The app has no account creation form that asks for any of this.
Camera: the app uses your camera only to scan a QR code during pairing. That scan happens entirely on your device — no image or video is ever saved, uploaded, or stored, and the app has no access to your photo library.
How we use this information
Everything we collect is used for one purpose: making the app work — pairing you with the people you choose, delivering the haptic "tap" and push notifications between your devices, and remembering your preferences (like a muted connection or a saved default). We do not use your information for advertising, analytics, or profiling.
Who we share information with
We don't share, sell, or rent your information to anyone. The only place your data is sent is our own server, which exists solely to run this app. We use Apple's Push Notification service to deliver notifications, which requires sending your device's push token and notification content to Apple — this is required for any app that sends notifications and is covered by Apple's own privacy practices. We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking service of any kind.
Data security
All communication between the app and our server is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Your account credentials are stored securely in your device's Keychain and are never transmitted in readable form.
Your choices and data deletion
You can rename or remove a connection, or mute notifications, at any time from within the app — removing a connection deletes it for both people. If you'd like your entire account and all associated data permanently deleted, contact us at the email below and we'll remove it promptly.
Children's privacy
This app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
